My Story
"Upon
realizing my dream job didn't exist I created it by founding Carolina
Mike's Kayaking Adventures."
In 1997 I took my first kayaking class and it changed my
life. The idea of being on the water close to nature and propelling myself with ease
so gracefully intrigued me from the start.

After a year and a half of constant paddling
I was hired to work in the kayak department of one of the largest
adventure shops called Bill Jackson's "Shop for Adventure". While
working I became a popular trip leader and after awhile the owners wanted
me to attended ACA Kayak Instructor training at Tybee Island Georgia.
When I returned I jumped into teaching basic and advanced sea kayaking.
I enjoyed my time and the shop and made many friends, but I sensed there was something missing.
A few
years later I was in a similar position at another kayak shop expanding my
knowledge and even managing a time. I often sketch in my
journal during down time and found myself doodling a basic logo I thought
would do justice to a ficticous kayak business. I was thinking it
looked pretty good so I worked on it some more. After attending a
riveting speech on the Appalachian Trail and meeting motivational speaker
Jeff Alt I noticed he wrote in the inside cover of a book I purchased " A walk for Sunshine" Carolina Mike, Go After Your Dreams
So I went home and completed the logo sketch and as they say the rest is
history. We can't wait to see
you on the journey.
